Expertise: Structural Analysis & FEA

Definition

Prediction and optimization of stress and deflection in rigid parts.

Our Expertise

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a simulation tool that is used, predominately, for predicting structural performance.  Given a physical force, will a component be permanently damaged?  This tool gives us a fast way to optimize a metal or plastic part.

  • If it is too weak, we learn that without expensive testing.
  • If it is unnecessarily strong then perhaps that gives us a way to make it lighter or less expensive.

FEA can do more than just predict strength and failure.  In experience hands, it can predict natural frequencies, spring-rates, wear, and other phenomena.
