Background
The DHCS is an incredibly robust and compact satellite phone based on Iridium’s flagship 9575, also designed by Porticos. The DHCS complies with the more stringent aspects of MIL-STD-810 immersion, shock, and temperature. Compact and powerful, it can fit in a pocket and can place a phone call from anywhere on the planet.
When it became necessary to survive a more rigorous suite of abuse-testing, Porticos redesigned the mechanical architecture of the flagship 9575 handset. The result is a satellite phone with unprecedented capabilities. Powerful, compact, tough-as-nails; it’s a slightly heavier “all-terrain” sibling to the commercial-grade 9575.
In addition to inspired electronics packaging, Porticos was diligent in proving, through testing, that all functional specifications were met or exceeded. Porticos was involved through tooling approvals and launch, and remain engaged in sustaining engineering.
