The management at Covelight (now Radware) wanted their product to really stand out. A rack-mount device is typically stacked amongst other nondescript flat metal boxes. Only the front face is visible, so that’s where Porticos focused our attention.
Designed to Fit Business Goals
We started with an assessment of Covelight’s business goals: Low volumes, high margin, tight schedule to launch. This was Covelight’s first product, so there was no “design language” to match.
We had to provide something elegant and eye-catching that would fit their schedule and budget.
The engineering team quickly settled on a formed sheet-metal solution, then set about generating photorealistic rendering of several approaches.
We worked with Covelight to refine their favorite approach in CAD. Achieving that look required welding and grinding; easily achievable within schedule and budget constraints.
The Final Product
We then fabricated several prototypes, resulting in a delighted client and a handsome product.
Photos of the finished device are shown here. It looks so good that Porticos keeps a model in our showcase!
