Background
Radioactive medicines and dyes, which enable PET scanning and other modern diagnostic methods, are created by placing an organic substance in front of a particle accelerator and irradiating the substance.
A local inventor and entrepreneur came to Porticos with a prototype “Accelerator Target” that would allow fast and economical production of a radioactive medical dye. The client asked us to optimize the size and function of the prototype while simplifying manufacturing and assembly.
In addition to accomplishing these tasks, Porticos designed a separate “fill station” to support the device. We also helped the client establish a supply chain appropriate to the scale and schedule of the project.
