Background
The Nasoneb handheld medication nebulizer is a remarkably compact device for delivering medicines directly to the nasal passage. Previous powered nebulizers have been large table-top affairs, with a hose for delivery to the nose. The Nasoneb can be comfortably held in one hand and lends itself to travel or to storage. It’s a game-changer for those with chronic sinus issues.
Challenges
An OEM pump was selected and validated by the client as the core of this product. All remaining engineering was performed by Porticos. Some elements of the design required a validation/refinement iteration when, for example, the first prototype was considered too noisy. Porticos stayed engaged until our client felt the product was ready for an eager marketplace.
Outcomes
The final product facilitates an order-of-assembly that is especially elegant. It allows a unit to be reliably assembled by hand in moments, while “hiding” some mechanical tolerances to be more accommodating of manufacturing variability.
