Background
L3Harris retained Porticos for assistance developing their latest military radio. This product development project was in the concept stage and required industrial design, mechanical architecture, preliminary sourcing, and DFM expertise.
Challenges
Porticos was tasked with providing attractive, rugged product designs that incorporated key mechanical features, compact electronics, and intuitive user interfaces. Concurrently, Porticos engineers developed mechanical architecture concepts that prioritized strength, ingress protection, and Design For Assembly (DFA) to meet the demanding product requirements. Porticos Asia, Porticos’ partner company in Hong Kong, provided component research and selection.
Outcomes
The resulting new product that Porticos developed is a small form factor, single-channel radio that delivers robust voice and data capabilities for missions at the edge of the network including Nett Warrior and Integrated Visual Augmentation System.
