Background
Public Safety vehicles incorporate cameras that are manually pointed at features like doorways, license plates, or individuals. A good attachment solution permits a driver to aim the camera with one hand, then snap it back into a home position. A perfect solution also permits that home position to be manually reset whenever necessary.
Porticos generated several different approaches, then worked with our client, Raytheon, to select the one that best matched their priorities. The preferred embodiment, shown here, was extremely low-profile, rugged, and cost-effective. Porticos then refined it to fit several camera sizes, and to “dial in” the mechanical damping needed for reliable operation.
