Our Story

 

The Beginning

Porticos was founded in 2003 by the Management Team, all practicing mechanical engineers with extensive background in product development.  That team met at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, recognizing a shared enthusiasm for innovation.  “There is always a better way…”

They decided to incorporate, and the mission for the company was clear:  Turn the client’s vision into successful product, and do it better than anyone else.

 

Evolution

Porticos was fortunate to attract the attention of some important clients early in our history.  Since then, Porticos has designed products for some of the largest companies in the world.  Client List

From our first home in a garage, Porticos has moved three times in five years, always looking for more room, space for collaboration, and better workshop facilities.  In 2008 we finally built Porticos Headquarters, just right for our work culture.  With room to keep growing, we are here to stay.

We have continued to hire talented design engineers, doubling and redoubling in size and adding new capabilities.  Porticos grew from 3 engineers in 2004 to 15 in 2008.

 

The Future

Porticos continues to pursue new opportunities in diverse markets.  Consumer Electronics still makes up a healthy percentage of our portfolio.  We increasingly focus on medical devices and also commercial/industrial handheld electronics.  Whenever the opportunity arises, we give special attention to projects that are harder to categorize:  Fuel cells, fluid devices, and firefighting equipment.
